We were really hoping to have some ultrasound pictures to post today, but Isaac kept his hands over his face yesterday during the scan, so there are no pics. We do know that he is still a boy though;) and that he has hair on the back of his head...the doctor pointed it out. He's healthy and doing well, but measured in the 25% percentile for 33 weeks. Believe it or not, my belly is actually measuring above average...so the doctor is going to do another ultrasound in a couple weeks just to make sure he's growing steadily (it's fine if he's a smaller baby, just as long as he's a growing smaller baby). Amniotic fluid levels were perfect and his heartbeat was a strong 150.
Those are not baby boxing gloves on my hands...they're cloth diapers! That's right... we're attempting them! But don't knock 'em 'til we've tried 'em... these ain't yo mama's average piece of cloth. We have a dozen bumgenius! one-size cloth diapers (there are other brands) and if they work like they're supposed to, then we'll never have to buy disposable diapers the entire time Isaac is in diapers! They're kind of expensive on the front-end...we got ours on sale! But overall we'll hopefully save at least $1000 or more in buying diapers and any siblings that come after can use them too.We have some "newborn" sized cloth diapers on the way since experienced parents say the bumgenius! (and others like them) fit babies best from 11lbs up. We're way excited though. We'll keep y'all updated on whether or not they're worth it. We have friends that have cloth-diapered and loved it...so here's hoping!

We're gonna give the cloth diapers a go too...it's a bit tricky right now with her being so small, but we got some bumGeniuses for Christmas. I'm excited and hope we'll be able to do it. Right now the ones that work for us are pre-formed velcro cloth and then putting nappy pads in there. Then all we have to do is change out the pad if she didn't soil the nappy too! We've got an assortment of cloth we're trying. :)

We've been having to use disposable diapers right now - Aashini is way to small for our bumgenius right now... but I can't wait to use them - we go through sooo many diapers! She always seems to dirty-up the clean diaper as we're putting it on... haha!
I'm set on doing the Bum Genius as soon as we get back to the states. Eden will be 8 months by then. I wanted to do them here but without a proper washing machine and no dryer there wouldn't be a way to keep them clean enough and dry fast enough. ah well...we'll start saving the environment (And benjamins) in a few months!
Your pictures always make me laugh! These little diapers reminded me of the "g-diapers" that friends of ours tried recently. Their final decision was that they worked great for girls but not for boys. Hope you have better luck! Here's link to their review...

Thanks for the heads-up Elizabeth! I read your friends blog and our diapers look somewhat like what she tried, but functionally they're different... MUCH easier! Basically bumgenius! is like regular disposables (1 time use) but you wash the whole thing instead of throwing it away. The fabric they're made of dries SUPER fast and the liners are washable too (you just throw the whole thing in the wash can put them in the dryer too if you want). It's good to read about other brands though because we'd like to give others a try in case we find one we like better...definitely won't be going with "g" brand:) If our experience goes well, feel free to send her our blog link! We use them too! Our neighbor makes them for Timothy! Look up my blogroll under "diaper lover". Ofcoarse it's in Finnish and you wouldn't understand a thing!
We found a trick with the bumGenius. My mom bought extra inserts, so we have 10 inserts and 5 diapers. If you fold the insert half in the pocket-thingie and half out to touch the baby's skin, when they wet it, you only have to change the insert not the diaper. And then about half the time (right now anyway) Hazel isn't getting her poop on the diaper but just on the liner. Does that make sense? So you can save money by buying extra liners and not as many diapers. of course that's right now while she's 10 lbs and on the first button snap level. Who knows if this'll still work as she grows. Let me tell you though, right now, these are my favorite. They make her bottom so bulky and cute, and she NEVER leaks through them.
Oh and we also tried today just a regular cloth diaper for an insert, and it worked too.
