i2 lately...

Found him in the pool yesterday afternoon. Fully clothed. Sneaky that one!

Isaiah. Oh, Isaiah. What a complex little boy he is. It is such a joy to see his personality start to really bloom. If you could hang with Zay each day, this is what you'd find...

* "Yesh." also "No." but "Yesh" is particularly cute. He's learning to talk and is really good at answering yes-or-no questions.
* Parroting. Nothing like your 22-month-old saying "DUDE!" in the car when you stop suddenly (and particularly when the stop is actually caused by a dude!). He also parrots big brother. Most of the time that's adorable :)
* Biting. He's teething which makes him cranky, but the only individual to be targeted for biting practice is Isaac.  His teething has also taught him that ice makes it feel better. Our freezer-drawer on the bottom of the fridge draws him in often with him pleading, "Ice-sh???"
* Obeying. I honestly thought for a couple months that it would never happen with him. Finally he has turned a corner. The rule in our house of leaving all toys upstairs is giving him daily, frequent practice.
* Lips. You oughta see those half-Jamaican kissers when I ask him, "Where's your lips?" He pokes them out  and it's too cute! If I'm sitting close enough to him when I ask, the pucker becomes a kiss for Mama :)
* Giggles at dinner. The last few nights, he's cracked himself up at dinner. He'll stick something in his mouth and just start laughing.
* Cigarette butts. Oh my. He's so close to the ground I guess they're just easily accessible. We find him all the time chomping on one, sticking out his ear, or hanging out of his nose. So. Gross. Our atrium area in our house has now been thoroughly cleaned out and rid of all cigarette butts (from construction workers who built the house), but it hasn't curbed his fascination with them in every other public place he can find them. Ick.
* Baby wipes. He loves them. If we eat in the car he always asks for one after to wipe his mouth and he developed the notion at some point that if he gets his poopy-diaper changed, he gets to take a (clean!) wipe with him after it's done. 
* He eats everything. Which might have been obvious with the cigarette comment, but seriously. American, Asian, spicy, sweet, hot, cold... you name it, or better yet, you sit down and try to eat it for yourself and Zaybee is bound to show up asking for some.
* Hugs. The kid is a great hugger. He readily apologizes and hugs his brother when instructed to (though we wish he'd just not do whatever got him trouble!) asks for hugs and kisses at night in bed  and in general loves to be on laps and be held.

We see such a strong will in the 2nd of our i's and are praying we can help aim that strong arrow straight. "Teach a strong willed child the right, and he'll be strong-willed for the right." That's our hope son! (Especially as we're closing in on year TWO!)
